The main difference between Chinese and western eating habits is that unlike the West,where everyone has their own plate of food,in China the dishes are placed on the table and everybody shares.If you are being treated by a Chinese host,be prepared for a ton of food.Chinese are very proud of their culture of cuisine and will do their best to show their hospitality.

And sometimes the Chinese host use their chopsticks to put food in your bowl or plate.This is a sign of politeness.The appropriate thing to do would be to eat the whatever-it-is and say how yummy it is.If you feel uncomfortable with this,you can just say a polite thank you and leave the food there.

Don&39;t stick your chopsticks upright in the rice bowl.Instead,lay them on your dish.The reason for this is that when somebody dies,the shrine to them contains a bowl of sand or rice with two sticks of incense stuck upright in it.So if you stick your chopsticks in the rice bowl,it looks like this shrine and is equivalent to wishing death upon a person at the table!

Make sure the spout of the teapot is not facing anyone.It is impolite to set the teapot down where the spout is facing towards somebody.The spout should always be directed to where nobody is sitting,usually just outward from the table.

Don&39;t tap on your bowl with your chopsticks.Beggars tap on their bowls,so this is not polite.Also,when the food is coming too slow in a restaurant,people will tap their bowls.If you are in someone&39;s home,it is like insulting the cook.

Lucky or Not?

When I was a small child, I usually thought it was a good luck to be sick in bed. You see, when you are ill, you can stay home. There is no need to finish so much homework. Your parents will take care of you. Besides there is always something good to eat. Isn&39;t it enjoyable to eat so much nice food?

A week ago, I was really in hospital. It was painful for me to stay in bed for several days. I couldn&39;t get up. I couldn&39;t even move. I didn&39;t want to eat anything though there was a lot before me. I missed my classmates and teachers so much that I was anxious to get back to meet my friends. I was also worried about my final examination.

Now I have grown up. I have changed my mind.

Summer is a season that the weather is quite hot.Therefore everyone has to wear short and thin cloths.Being a girl,I will have the chance to wear beautiful dresses,or wear the bikini and bathe in the sunbeams in the beach.

In the summer,I can swim in the sea and eat ice cream.In addition,I will have a two-month summer holiday to go traveling and play with my best friends.

The scenery of summer is also amazing.The trees are covered with thick and green leaves and the cicadas are singing their songs as celebrating some good news.The sunshine is particularly bright in the daytime and the a number of stars are sparkling vividly in the evening sky.

All in all,summer is the best season in my heart.It shows the vigor of the nature and I always look forward the coming of this season.
